Each day my husband and I are pressed with one big question: What are we going to eat?

Fighting Bad Puppy Breath with Orapup

Last October we adopted our little puppy girl, Shadow. She’s now “approximately” one year old, and she’s basically the center of our universe. (At least she believes and often insists that she is, and we’ve really given her no reason to think otherwise!)

Shadow loves snuggling and playing with her parents. And she also loves to give and steal puppy kisses, so much so that we often call her the “Lick-o-potamus.” As the primary targets of her campaign to spread love and licks, my husband and I always make sure Shadow is nice and clean, with regular baths and nail clippings, and we give her Orapup to eliminate bad puppy breath and make her kisses sweeter, while she’s being the ambassador of love. We’ve all heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know I certainly feel more focused and am able to get more work done when I’ve had something to eat early in the day. But sometimes when I first wake up, I’m just not really all that hungry, and I certainly don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking and dirtying up dishes unnecessarily…my solution to this dilemma is often Carnation Breakfast Essentials.

I’ve been drinking this stuff since my teen years. It was always a great drink to take on my early morning commute to school, and it got me through many college lectures! Back then I primarily bought the chocolate flavored and simply added it to milk, but now I love using the Carnation Breakfast Essentials as a base for shakes and smoothies. Sitting Down with a Good Book and Kobo Glo HD

A lot of you don’t know this, but about a year before I started my blog, I got graduated from college as a double major in English and history. Over the course of my college career, I collected a lot of books which I still own and occasionally refer to. I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of books because you never know when they might come in handy, but at the same time, we only have so much space. For this reason, the internet and ebooks have become a primary source for reading.

It is light weight and much more convenient to carry around than actual books. It is wifi enabled and gives you access to millions of titles, from classic novels to contemporary best sellers, text books, how-to books, and more! (Some titles are even free!)

The product box actually has a page from Jane Eyre, which just happens to be one of my favorite books! I looked it up in the Kobo Glo estore and was happy to find several versions of the title. As a former student, I know how important it is to be able to access the exact version of the book that is assigned to you, so I found it very cool that a number of versions were available for the classic titles I look up.

Giving you the ability to store 3000 ebooks, plus a 2-month battery life are two more reasons why this is a good readers for students and avid readers alike. Plus, you can download the Kobo App, and you’ll have access to all your ebooks any of your desktop computer and all mobile devices, including Android, iOS, Blackberry 10, and Windows 8.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta

Lately I’ve been in a mood to branch out and try new recipes. I haven’t really made anything new in a while because Noah isn’t a “try new things” kind of kid, so making something new often means making the new recipe, plus making something else for him. (And who has the time for that?) But now that school is out, that gives me a little more time to cook….in the past week I’ve had a chance to make 3 new things! One thing I made this week was Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta. I basically used my very popular Alfredo Recipe and added a few key ingredients like Swiss cheese, ham, and Progresso Panko Crispy Bread Crumbs.

Noah heard the name of the recipe and basically refused to try it. (I’ve never made my Chicken Cordon Bleu for him.) But we convinced him to try a bite, and he actually liked it. Yay! [Read more…]
