Back to School Breakfast with Jimmy Dean

For the past few weeks we’ve been getting ready for back to school.  Band camp is behind us, school fees have been paid, the class schedule is in hand, and on Wednesday of this week, Noah will be going for his first official day as a high school sophomore.  Incidentally, a lot of people don’t know it, but sophomore literally means “wise fool.”  (Just a little fun fact for you!)

When it comes to breakfast time, I try to be anything but foolish, and I want to send our child off to school with a full stomach, so he can stay focused and WISE!  During the week, I’m happy to turn to my good friend from the freezer Jimmy Dean for delicious and easy breakfast options! Back to School Snacks with Motts

Are you ready to send your kids back to school?  I was shopping the other day and was overwhelmed by all the awesome school supply selections. (I love school supplies!)  And I was just as overwhelmed by all the back to school snacking options.  At our house, I need to have a few options that can be used for after school snacks but could also double as lunch items in the event that Noah takes his lunch, and it doesn’t hurt if they could also serve as an on-the-go breakfast item. Beyond this, it also helps if the products are affordable.  Mott’s® Applesauce and Apple Juice are two things I can count on for this. [Read more…]

Reach Complete Care

I participated in this sponsored campaign on behalf of REACH® and One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own.

Reach Complete Care

In the past I’ve mentioned how important oral care is to me.  In the past I’ve had a lot of fillings and other work done, and I want to nip future cavities in the bud!  It turns out, I’m not the only one putting a priority on oral hygiene.  A new survey by Kelton Global states millions of American moms prioritize oral hygiene over washing their face, or removing their makeup before bed, and 82% of the nation’s moms never skip brushing their teeth every night.  When oral hygiene is this important to you, it’s important to have a great products like Reach Complete Care. Uncleaned Kitchen

Sometimes, just SOMETIMES, mind you, my kitchen is not absolutely pristine and clean.  Sometimes all my counters look like the photo above (or much worse!).  It usually happens after a lot of cooking takes place.  After “slaving over a hot stove”  my family finally gets to eat this most delicious meal I have prepared and maybe even indulge in one of my scrumptious desserts.

Afterward I am less than thrilled at the thought of cleaning, and I love nothing more than when my husband says, “leave that mess for later,”  or better yet, “let me know help you clean up.”  Either way….some time and somehow the cleaning has to be done, because I can’t STAND a dirty kitchen for long. BBQ Chicken Sliders and Fried Pickles

The summer grilling season is dwindling down, which means it’s time to think about after school snacks (and football food).  For both of these, I often run to my freezer for solutions!  Farm Rich has several options that we LOVE!  When I was a kid, I ate their cheese sticks all the time, and nowadays I also enjoy their Crispy Dill Pickles, Boneless BBQ Chicken Bites, Boneless Buffalo Chicken Bites, and Chicken Wings! Mexican Chicken Casserole Top

School is almost back is session!  Already?  Yes!  As I sit at my computer, our son is actually standing out in the heat at marching band camp, and he’ll be starting school in just 2 weeks!  For me, that means it is time to stock up on plenty of back to school groceries and come up with some easy meal ideas.  The other day I talked about a few of my go-to breakfast options, and today we’re talking dinners!  Since Noah has brand practice right after school, this means I need meal ideas I can whip up rather quickly after he gets home from band practice. Back to School Gifts with Sadie Robertson Live Original + A Positive Note from Me

Sadie Robertson Live Original

Every day I’m troubled by a lot of the things I see and hear on movies, television, music, and other media.  The decline in faith and family values, and the lack of positive messages and role models often leads me wondering and worried about where we’re headed.

We try to do our part to lead positive lives and encourage the young people in our family to do the same.  One thing I  especially wish for the young ladies in our family is that they maintain self respect and a positive image.  I want for them to be proud of who they are and not define themselves based on what others think, or feel they have to change to fit someone else’s ideal.

I, for one, wish I could have figured that out a long time ago! I am in my 30s and I still occasionally struggle with self esteem issues.  I’ve always had severe anxiety, and because of that, I really missed out on a lot of opportunities.  As a student, my grades were nearly perfect, and yet I never really felt completely confident in a classroom.  My anxieties also left me very distrusting of a lot of people, and as a result I found it very hard to open up and get to know most people.

Whether you’re a student in high school or college, you’re out in the work force, or if you’re a stay-at-home mom, maintaining a positive attitude is essential.  You can be smart, talented, and attractive, but if you don’t have self-confidence and aren’t able to be comfortable just being yourself, then you are lost! None of that other stuff matters. [Read more…]
