What’s your least favorite household chore?  Previously I’ve discussed how much I dislike doing the dishes, but if I had to pick something that I like even less than dishes, it would be cleaning the bathroom!  But guess what?  It has to be done!  This year as part of my quest for a more simplified life, I’ve been coming up with ways to make housekeeping easier for myself.  Today I will share my latest and greatest cleaning weapon in my bathroom cleaning arsenal, the New Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber (and Disposable Scrubber Refills), and I’ll share some simple tips and strategies for maintaining a clean bathroom (with a printable checklist included). Homegating with Skittles

My family is so excited about football season being back again! How about you?  Each week of football season, we watch many games, but our favorite thing to watch is college football on Saturdays, and for this, we always like to have a lot of food and snacks on hand!  With football season starting in September and going through and past the New Year, I find it’s important to mix things up and come up with great menu items each week.  For example, we may have pizza and wings one week, and the following week we may have pulled pork sandwiches or hamburgers and hot dog.

But for me, football food doesn’t always have to be about the savory; it can also be about the sweet.  For the sweet, I like everything from fruit and cream cheese dip to cupcakes and cookies, to candy!  For the first Saturday of college football, we had an array of delicious foods to serve, including one of my favorite candies, Skittles®.  Today I’m going to show you some ideas for homegating with Skittles.  I’ll show you how I added Skittles to our party menu, and I’m going to show you how you can use Skittles to bring a little fun to the party! Tips and a Printable Checklist for Clean Kitchen

One of my goals for this year has been to change how I clean house.  There have been times in the past, where I’ve walked around my house and literally felt sick, looking around at the mess and all the work that had to be done.  Sometimes things were in a mess, because I’d been too busy with blog and shop work to clean; other times things were in a mess, because I’d been taking on extra big projects around the house (things like decluttering, garage sales, and DIY projects), and still other times things would be in a mess from a lack of cleaning due to migraine or other illnesses.

But as I said, one of my goals for this year has been to change I clean house, and after doing a little research on the topic and putting some new habits in to place, I think I’ve finally found a good formula that works for me.  Today I’m going to discuss one of the most difficult rooms to keep clean: the kitchen.  I’m going to give you some of my tips and a checklist to keep your kitchen clean.  And we’re going to talk about a few products from Scotch-Brite® that will help you maintain a clean kitchen. SmartBones® Review and $25 Visa Giveaway

SmartBones Review Giveaway

I’m very excited to have my puppy girl assistant Shadow helping me out with today’s post!  It celebrates something that is very near and dear to Shadow’s heart: Food and Treats!  When it comes to her diet, Shadow, can be quite finicky, so we have certain go-to foods and treats that we always give her, but because we love “treating” her, we are always purchasing new products for her to try, and of course, I always welcome the opportunity to let her sample and review new products.

Most recently, Shadow had the chance to try SmartBones®.  SmartBones from PetMatrix are a healthy alternative to Rawhide.  They are easily digestible and will help your pet to maintain healthy teeth and gums.  And because Shadow actually ate them, I know they must taste good too!

Before we learn more about the treats here are a couple of things about rawhide and why you should look for alternatives to rawhide bones and treats. Rawhide is the inner hide from a cow or other animal that has undergone chemical processing to remove hair and other materials. The rawhide is then ground or used whole, and is formed into various dog chew shapes.  According to vets, dogs who eat rawhide, may face certain health risks such as stomach & intestinal blockage and potential ingestion of toxic chemicals used to process rawhide chews. Friday Favorites – Linky Party – Week 334

Greetings everyone! Welcome to this week’s linky party!  I hope you’re all loving the new format as much as I am.  I just love seeing all the other hostess’s picks.  How about you?

This week for my own feature pick, I’ve chosen a post on 29 Oatmeal Add-ins from The Gracious Wife.  I always love to share breakfast ideas during this time of year.  With the back to school season, I’m sure everyone can use the extra inspiration!  I chose to feature the oatmeal post, because I think oatmeal has always been given a bad wrap.  A lot of people think of it as a boring and bland food for old people or babies, but in fact, there is so much you can do with it!  When I was a kid, I always ate it with butter and sugar.  It was all I’d ever known!  And now it’s so great to see what other people eat in their oatmeal.

The Gracious Wife suggests a variety of fruits, nuts, spices, and even vegetables that you can put in your oatmeal.  I hope you’ll go over and check out her ideas and check out all of our other featured posts!

Friday Favorites Linky Party – Week 333 – With New Hostesses and a New Format

Hello everyone!  I’m so excited to welcome you to this week’s linky party!  I think this party is the best one yet, because today we are welcoming new hostesses, and we are also changing our format a little bit.

First, let me talk hostesses, I am happy to report that we have added 6 new hostesses to our party!  Some are veteran visitors to the party, and some are newer bloggers that I’m just becoming familiar with, but I know all of them will be great.  And I think we also got a great mix, as far as niches go.  We have food bloggers, diy bloggers, and lifestyle bloggers.  I look forward to working with all these ladies, and I know they will all bring their own unique perspective and dynamic to the party.

Our new hostesses are Maisy of Becoming Alice, Sheree of Stage Presents, Penny of Penny’s Passion, Amy of A Day of Small Things, Lisa from Condo Blues, and Kelly of Under a Texas Sky.

As for our veteran hostesses, Dawn of LeroyLime is still with us.  Christine of MustLoveHome is now hosting from her new blog Light and Savvy, and Jen formerly of A Heart Full of Love is now joining us from Creatively Homemade.  (And of course, I’m still here! Hehe.)  Please check out everyone’s blog and social media links below and join me in following these lovely ladies!

Now I also mentioned a new format.  The new format is very simple! Instead of each blogger picking a few posts to share on her blog and creating her own post, we are all going to be collaborating to create one post for all of our blogs.  That is to say, each hostess will be choosing one item to feature from the week’s party, and each feature pick will be shared on all of our blogs.  It should make for an interesting party, and bloggers will have a chance to be featured at 10 different blogs, so it’s a win-win.

Now without further ado, please check out this week’s features and join us by linking up your own recipes, projects and tips.

Simply Straight Ceramic Straightening Brush – Review and Giveaway

Simply Straight Review and Giveaway

I’m so excited about today’s post!  Most of the time when I review hair care products or do any sort of hair related post, I talk about my natural curly hair that I work hard to tame.  It’s definitely not easy, especially since I live in the South, where the humidity makes it almost impossible to maintain a controlled, frizz-free look.

Below is a picture of me with my curls.  This is what happens when I just scrunch a little mousse in my hair and let it go.  I like it okay, but curly haired girls always want straight hair! [Read more…]
