Easy Easter Egg Banner

I was decorating for Easter a few weeks ago, and I had all these foam eggs.  At first I was going to hang them in various places in the kitchen, but then I got this fun idea to turn the eggs into a banner.
This is a very easy and inexpensive project, and I was really pleased with how it turned out.  And it just happened to go great with this “Happy Easter” banner I already had.
What you need:
Foam Egg Sheets
Ribbon
You should be able to find the foam egg sheets at Wal-Mart, a craft store, or possibly a dollar store.  The holes were already punched in these, but you can always use a punch that works with foam if you can’t find any sheets like these.
Cut your ribbon in to 6-8 inch pieces.  You could actually go shorter with the ribbon, but I like the look of the longer ribbon.  Loop the ribbon  through the holes of two foam sheets. Tie the ribbon into a knot.  Keep adding eggs in the same way until you have the desired length.  On each end of the banner, take a piece of ribbon and loop it through a hole; tie a knot.  (These ribbons on the end will be used for hanging.)   To give the ends a more cute and “finished” look, take a second ribbon and loop it through the hole, but this time tie the ribbon in to a bow.
Another thing to consider is adding additional ribbons.  I thought about tying additional ribbons through the bottom wholes or tying ribbons through the middle of the eggs, but in the end I just decided to keep it simple.

Waffles with Syrup and Peanut Butter

My husband’s birthday is on Monday.  We’ll be going out to eat for dinner, but for breakfast I’ll be making one of his favorites.  One thing that he absolutely loves is waffles (or pancakes), specifically with peanut butter on top!
Before we go any further, I must ask a question or two. Has anyone ever heard of this?  Has anyone ever had this?  Is anyone out there a “Waffles/Pancakes with Peanut Butter” fan?  If you are, you have to leave a comment because my husband will totally get a kick out of it! Truly!
He absolutely loves this stuff, and he loves to recommend it to people!  And he loves it even more when he finds someone who likes it or when  he can get someone to try it out, and they like it.

No actual recipe goes with this.  Just make your waffles or pancakes, and spread (or glob) a little peanut butter on each one.  Then top with syrup. Very easy!  And besides the great taste, the other great thing about this is that it gives you some extra protein to start out your day, and I’d say it’s probably a lot healthier than using that old butter I’m always having.
And since I’m not sharing a recipe, instead I’ve got a quick story about the peanut butter.  My husband likes this stuff so much that he will actually carry a small jar of peanut butter into the Cracker Barrel  or IHOP for breakfast! And he is very proud of it!
In fact, we’d only been dating a few months when he asked me to smuggle a jar of peanut butter in to the Cracker Barrel.   And just to show how in love (or how crazy) I was, I did it! And I’m here to tell you now that I would not do something like that even that for myself!  I would be way too embarrassed!
And believe me, you do get some strange looks from the waiter and people at the tables around you when you pull a peanut jar out of your purse!  One waiter even gave a shocked and puzzled look when he walked by and saw some strange substance on hubby’s pancakes.  He was relieved to find it was just peanut butter!
So this should stand as a testimony of how loving and dedicated I am!  Or maybe it’s just a testimony about how much my husband loves peanut butter on his waffles and pancakes!

Shopping for Christmas Ornaments in April (and a Review)

I know it’s April, and a lot of people don’t even want to think about Christmas, but if you were back in December you know that I LOVE Christmas ornaments, especially my mouse ornaments. And I simply couldn’t pass up the opporunity to do a review for Christmas Ornmanents.com.
Actually spring and summertime is ideal Christmas Gift Shopping Time.  You can often get things on sale. And you can get all your shopping done online without the crowds and the stress.

My mom and I both love to give ornaments as gifts, and this Christmasornaments.com has ornament gifts that would be ideal for any time of year. For example, they have wedding ornaments and  baby ornaments. These would really make for some great keepsake shower gifts!

And the site also has University and College Ornaments, which by the way, I was happy to find one for our team, The University of Alabama!

And I also was happy to find some cute teacher ornaments and graduation ornaments which would be really cute to give as gifts this May.

But as I said before, I love mice ornaments.  So I picked out the little cutie (below) to review!  He’s made of metal, which is perfect because I can’t have glass ornaments on my tree, due to my kitty cats (who are our resident tree eaters and occasional interior decorators—but not in a good way).
I also love the vibrant colors in this ornament and just the cuteness of it. What mouse collector wouldn’t love a mouse sitting on a Christmas ball?  And I also like his size, which is just over 5 inches long and perfect for our tree.  He will definitely make a great addition to my collection.

If like to shop for ornaments year round like I do, check out Christmasornaments.com!

The Sweetest Easter Tablescapes

I think I’ve got Easter Fever!  I had so much fun sharing all the great Easter wreaths last week, that I couldn’t wait to share some Easter tables that I found!  These photos are so cheery!  And everything is so cute!  It really makes me wish I was going to an Easter party!

See what I mean?  Don’t you want to go to this party? I Do!  Evertything is so cute—even the carrot centerpeice! Just adorable!  This is fromWants and Wishes.
Loved this!  It’s so whimsical and pretty! I love the soft pastels, and I love both of these egg trees.  You can see the tutorial at Torie Jayne.

Okay! Believe it or not, this isn’t a real tablescape! Surpise!  It’s actually dollhouse size!  But it was so cute I had to include it, and I think it would be great inspiration for a life size table. Check it out at Hummingbird Miniatures.

So many beautiful things here!  It’s Always a Party at the Parkers is a site that I found long time ago and forgot about.  I don’t know how I forgot because they sell some totally unforgettable party supplies!  And after you check out the party table, you can pick some free printables.

This one’s actually an Easter Brunch Table.  Isn’t that a cute concept?  Check out The Party Dress to see what is being served up.

I love the simplicity of this, and the tree with the birds is gorgeous.  I’m not sure of the original source, but this and other tablescapes are being featured at 79 Ideas.

For more cute Easter ideas, check out my Easter board.

Sunflower Peep Cake

As I was looking through my collection of recipe photos for something to post this week, nothing really inspired me, and since I’m running a little late on the post anyway, I decided I’d just look for something cute from an outside source.  I immediately thought of my husband’s birthday, which is next week!  For those of you who are new and do not know, I have to always make a yellow cake with chocolate icing for his birthday.  It’s his favorite.  It’s what he likes.  End of story!
Don’t get me wrong! It’s actually one of my favorites too!  But I just can’t blog about the same cake over and over! So for today’s post I thought it would be fun to share an alternative to the plain yellow cake with chocolate icing.  I remember seeing this Sunflower Peep Cake along time ago on Taste of Home.  I can’t believe I never shared it before because it is so cute!
I don’t think I’ll be making one of these next week, as I’m certain that hubby’s birthday is a Peep-Free Zone, but it’s fun to think about just the same!  Hope you enjoy!

Recipe for Sunflower Peep Cake:

Ingredients:
1 package (18-1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix
2 cans (16 ounces each) chocolate frosting
19 yellow chick Peeps candies
1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Prepare and bake cake according to package directions, using two greased and waxed paper-lined 9-in. round baking pans. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely; carefully remove waxed paper.
Level tops of cakes. Spread frosting between layers and over the top and sides of cake.
Without separating Peeps and curving slightly to fit, arrange chicks around edge of cake for sunflower petals. For sunflower seeds, arrange chocolate chips in center of cake.
Linking up at these parties.

Spotlight on Petite Rouge Shop

I’m excited to share my newest sponsor with you.  It is a cute etsy shop called Petite Rouge which specializes in adorably sweet hairbows.  Are you looking for the perfect finishing touch? Petite Rouge has it. Simple, elegant blossoms to brighten up any outfit. Dainty enough for your smallest princess. Sophisticated enough for your growing girls.

Petite Rouge is owned by Rachel, a stay at hom mom.  Here’s a little information about Rachel in her own words:
“I am a stay-at home mom of four — three boys and a girl (although at three, she thinks she’s one of the boys and is can hold her own in a nerf battle). Having four kids keeps me pretty occupied and doesn’t leave much time for other things. So my hobbies have become multi-purpose: searching the internet for new recipes, cooking, collecting fabulously illustrated childrens books, creating scary halloween decorations (random, but again I do have three boys).
And I love fabric! I love to shop for fabric the way some women shop for shoes . . . but I’m not the best at sewing. When I found a way to use fabric in a non-sewing way, I was so excited! My husband has informed me several times that our daughter has enough hair clips to last her for two lifetimes. So in order to justify buying more fabric, I opened up an etsy site.”
I instantly fell in love with Rachel’s  unique bows.  Her blossoms are so fun and unique!  And I love the variety of bright colors and fabrics.  I also love that girls can wear the clips alone or add them to a headband.  And although the blossoms dominate the shop, I equally love Rachel’s flower clips and corker clips.  Any of these bows would be the perfect accessory to finish off any outfit with style and flair!

If you’re shopping this spring for children’s fashions, please check out Petite Rouge for the perfect finishing touch to your child’s outfits!

Spotlight on 1001 Sundials

Spring time is the time to get your yard and garden in order.  My husband’s never been real big on what kind of flowers we have in our yard, but  hedoes like yard decorations like stone statues and garden sundials.  And I have to admit, since being around my husband, I’ve developed a love for these sort of things as well.
1001Sundials.com was founded with a simple goal – to provide their customers the largest selection of sundials and armillaries at the best possible prices.
And they have a fabulous collection!  For this post, I thought it would be fun to share some photos of sundials that I and/or my husband would love for our yard.  We both love things that have an old, antique, or classic look, and we also love things that are whimsical or fantasy/mythologically themed, so there were a lot of things at 1001 Sundials that appealed to us, including the Armillary Sundial pictured above.  Here are some others:
Brass Butterfly Sundial

Brass Angel Sundial

Bronze Moon & Star Sundial
Cast Resin Time Passes Sundial
Visit 1001 Sundials for these and other Sundials and Armillaries.
