Sodastream Review and Giveaway

Sodastream
When I first heard about Sodastream, I was amazed and I knew I had to try it! At our house we drink a lot of soda or “coke” (because in the South everything is called a coke regardless of brand or flavor. hehe).
And I knew this would be a convenient product to own, and not to mention, it’s just fun!
Needless to say, I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to write a review for Sodastream!
If this is the your first time to hear about Sodastream, you may want to check out this video to see how it works:

My Review: I received the Genesis. The only assembly required is placing the carbonator inside the machine. (This is easy enough.) And the whole process was really just as easy as it shows is in the video. I was highly impressed!
I also love that Sodastream offers a variety of flavors.  It has a Sodastream version of all the popular brands such as my favorites Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Mountain Dew.  They also have diet varieties for my husband.
And then they also have their own energy drink, comparable to Red Bull, and they have fruit flavored drinks like Lemonade, Cranberry-Raspberry, Green Tea Strawberry Kiwi, and more!
So far I’ve tried the Dr. Pete (their version of Dr. Pepper) and Fountain Mist (their version of Mountain Dew).  And my husband has tried the Diet Cola.  Each of these were pretty tasty and comparable with the originals.
Overall we’re happy and very excited about the product, and I can’t wait to try other soda flavors!
Connect: Connect with Sodastream on  Facebook and Twitter
Buy it! Purchase your Sodastream online.
Giveaway: One Simply Sweet Home reader will win the Fountain Jet Soda Lover’s Start-Up Kit. This kit is a $99.95 value and includes the following:

  • Fountain Jet – winner’s choice of color (black/silver, red/silver or white)
  • 1 carbonating bottle, reusable for up to 3 years

Peanut Butter Cracker Balls

I just love peanut butter candy! Last year around Easter I shared a recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter Cups.  And this Easter I’ve got another peanut butter treat!
This is one that I just threw together as an experiment one night.  It’s based on this traditional peanut butter cookie/candy recipe that I shared back in January. And I think you’ll find it’s the perfect sweet and salty combo candy!
Photobucket
Recipe for Crunchy Peanut Butter Balls:
Ingredients:
1 cup Ritz or Townhouse crackers, crushed
2/3 cup peanut butter
3-4 blocks almond bark
a few drops food coloring (optional)
sprinkles (optional)
Directions:  Place crackers inside a zipper bag and crush using a rolling pin, meat tenderizer, your hands, or anything else you want to use. (Sorry I can’t remember how many crackers I used. I just counted out a few and poured the crumbs into a measuring cup.)
Next place 2/3 cup peanut butter inside a bowl.  Add cracker crumbs and mix until well combined.  Chill in the refrigerator or freezer for 15 minutes.  This will help to keep the peanut butter from sticking to your hands as much, though you may want to put some flour powdered sugar on your hands before rolling.
After rolling back into balls, place back into freezer for another 15-20 minutes.
Next prepare your almond bark according to package directions. I use the microwave, stopping in 15-30 seconds increments to stir.  Once the chocolate is melted, add food coloring 2-3 drops at a time, stirring, and then adding drops again until you get your desired color.
Finally dip your balls in the almond bark using a spoon or candy dipper and immediately add sprinkles after dipping.
Place balls on parchment paper and let dry.  Makes 24 balls.

Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix Review & Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
EnG Product Shot.png

We’ve had kind of a strange winter around here, but I think the warm weather might be hear to stay for a while (knock on wood).  And this means it’s going to be time to get out in the yard and do a little a little yard.

I have to admit, my husband does the mowing and most the hard work, but I do help with the flower beds and the general clean up.  And regardless of who’s doing what, I’m always interested in finding products that can make our yard work easier!

As we get ready to tackle the yard this spring and summer, I’m excited to try this new Miracle-Gro®  Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix.  Here are some of the benefits you get from it:
• Up to 3X the Flowers and Vegetables!* *versus native soil
• Significantly improves soil for multiple years
• Concentrated planting mix expands up to 3X when water is
added
• Feeds for up to 6 months
• All natural fibers hold up to 50% more water than basic potting
soil

Personally I can think of a few different ways in which I’d like to use this. For one, I’ve got a tree in my backyard that needs to be transplanted, and I think the Expand ‘n Gro would be great  to use for the transplanting process.

Also, I was at the store the other day and saw some buttercups (daffodils) for sale. They are my favorite flower, and it would be so great to have some planted around the house.

Here’a quick video to show you how Expand ‘n Gro works!

Giveaway! One Simply Sweet Home reader will win a sample of  Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix.

Yoohoo & Friends WannaBe Giveaway

Photobucket

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ve likely seen the adorable products of Aurora World.  They’ve got some of the cutest toy animals around, including Yoohoo & Friends and Milly the Pinkest Kitten.  And today Yoohoo & Friends are back for a visit!

But these aren’t just any Yoohoos! They are the new line of Yoohoo & Friends “WannaBes.”
Like the original Yoohoo & Friends toys, they’re extra soft and feature the big bright eyes and big fuzzy tails, but these little guys are in disguise!

Photobucket

I think these might be the cutest Yoohoo & Friends toys yet! They come in 8 different varieties, and as you can see each is wearing a costume!  And like the original Yoohoo & Friends toys, they make a sound when you squeeze them, except these little guys make a noise like the animal they are dressed as! Too cute!

And as if they weren’t cute enough, you can even pull off their little “animal hood.”  Love it!

I received the tiger!  This was a random shipment, but I was really happy to get the tiger, because I love tigers and cats, and the tiger is my high school (home town) mascot.  Of course, the tiger is super cute, and I love his little roar!

Healthy Cooking and Salad Bar Vegetable Stir Fry

My husband has recently vowed to lose weight. As some of you may know, he has diabetes and other health issues which are directly linked to obesity.  And the fact that this is a simply “sweet” home doesn’t exactly help matters.

To help with his weight loss goals, I’m thinking back to his diet routine, which was very high in vegetables, fruit, and protein.  Here are some things he used to eat during the day to stay on track with his weight loss goals:

Favorite Breakfasts included:
Fruit Smoothies made with milk and protein powder.
Chicken Scrambles with turkey bacon
Whole Wheat English Muffins with Turkey and cheese slices

Favorite Lunches Included:
Grilled Chicken Wraps
Chicken Salad
Tuna Salad

Photobucket

And while he was on the diet, I used to make stir fry for dinner once a week, which he always looked forward to.  So today I decided to share this excellent stir fry recipe with you.  Just look at all those colorful vegetables!

Recipe for Salad Bar Vegetable Stir Fry:
1 cup uncooked instant white rice
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 1/2 cups small cauliflower florets
1 cup baby-cut carrots, quartered lengthwise
2 1/2 cups small broccoli florets
3 tablespoons water
1 cup fresh snow pea pods, trimmed
1 red or green bell pepper, cut into strips
1/2 cup stir-fry sauce
1/4 cup shelled sunflower seeds
Directions:  Cook rice in 1 cup water with salt as directed on package.Meanwhile, in 10-inch skillet or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add cauliflower and carrots; cook and stir 4 minutes. Add broccoli; cook and stir 1 minute. Add 3 tablespoons water. Reduce heat to medium; cover and cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are crisp-tender.Add pea pods, bell pepper and stir-fry sauce; cook and stir until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds. Serve over rice.

And what’s great about a lot of the foods on my husband’s diet plan (at least the foods we’ve decided to make) is that they are readily available, they’re actually things that are quite easy to make, and best of all, they’re things that my husband actually likes to eat.

In our attempt to try and maintain a healthier lifestyle my husband and I also take a multi-vitamin and other supplements with our diets. You can purchase supplements such as vitamin e from http://www.hollandandbarrett.com.

Do you have any weight loss or healthy cooking tips you’d like to share?

Robby Wash Ball Review and Giveaway

Photobucket

This week I’ve got a product to share with you that’s going to make laundry a breeze!  The Robby Wash Ball is the equivalent of about 12 months  (or 120 washes) worth of laundry detergent! It works in both hot and cold water and works to get your clothes fresh and clean without additional detergents or add-ins.

Robby Wash Ball works with both front and top load washers, and it’s very simple to use.  Simply throw it in with the wash, and just refill the ball when the level of maco-molecule pellets is less than 75% full.
So why try the Robby Wash Ball?  Here’s a few reasons:
  •  It’s hypoallergenic, so if you or your children have allergies, this is a must-try product.
  • It’s economical, at $32.95 for one ball.
  • It’s environmentally friendly.
  • No lugging detergent bottles and boxes from the store.
  • Also, it’s a great space saver for your laundry room, and it’s especially perfect if you’re in a an apartment or dorm
Here’s a video that shows you more information on how this little ball works:
