Our bodies are always going through changes.  Since being pregnant, I’ve learned more and more about this.  Nearly every day (and especially in the beginning of my pregnancy) I’ve looked up something related the topic of pregnancy:  What symptoms should I expected this week?  Is this symptom normal?  What medicines can I take?

When it comes to feminine itching, odor, and yeast infections, MONISTAT® is on my list of OBGYN recommended products to use.   It offers prescription strength medicine in an over the counter form, which is very convenient for women on the go.  MONISTAT® is the #1 doctor recommended OTC brand with a long-term record of success — it has been in use for the treatment of vaginal yeast infections for over 40 years. 4 Handy Plumbing Tips for Homeowners

Being a homeowner can be a great joy but also quite a headache. You never know when a problem will surface which is why it is a good idea to identify professionals before you need them. This way, you can have them on speed dial in case a problem was to arise. However, sometimes the problem is not that easy or there is not extra room in the budget to hire someone to come over and fix the issue. There are times that as a homeowner, you have to get your hands dirty and do the work yourself. This article will provide some handy plumbing tips for new homeowners.

Turn off the water. If you notice a leak and you want to explore the problem, be sure to turn the water off to the area. This can save you from adding to the problem with additional leakage. This will also allow you to look for the leak without worrying about getting soaking wet or wasting additional water.

Fix the running toilet. We have all been there, whether you have lived in an apartment or in your own home, it is inevitable that you will experience a running toilet at one time or another. Before trying to fix the toilet, make sure that it is not clogged with debris, toilet paper, or waste. Once you have confirmed that the toilet is clear, lift the lid off of the tank. Check the flapper to make sure that it is still intact and in good condition. Believe it or not, they do wear out from time to time and need to be replaced. Another thing to look for is if the water is very high in the tank. If the water is high, turn the valve off that is below the tank and take off the rubber flapper. Dry the area and install a new flapper.

De-clogging drains. A clogged drain can happen to anyone. Over time soap builds up in a drain along with hair, lint, or other debris. A clogged drain can be easily remedied by purchasing a plastic snake-like tool from your local hardware store. Simply place the snake in the drain and dig out the contents that are causing the clog. It may be tempting to dump drain-o or other plumbing solutions down the drain but try to avoid doing this as it can have a negative effect on your plumbing.

Take good care of your garbage disposal. It may sound strange but your garbage disposal can malfunction or quit working at any moment. Take care of your disposal by cleaning it often with garbage disposal cleaning solutions that can be found at your local hardware or grocery store. In addition, keep silverware, bottle caps, and other metal objects out of the drain as they can damage the blades or cause the disposal to not work at all.

If you have tried all of these tips are you are still having trouble, we recommend this plumber that can help you out.

Why You Need Biz and Why Biz Works

Disclosure: I am a brand ambassador for Biz and have been compensated for this post. The opinions are my own.

Biz

As a wife and mom, I like to send my family out in to the world, not only feeling but also looking great.  For me, looking great starts with clothing.  I know that people often get initial impressions of us based on what we are wearing.  Even people we’ve known for a while will take notice when we get dressed up or wear something new.  Whether you’re wearing a dress shirt or an old tshirt, the key is to have on clothing that is bright and clean.  In our house, I achieve this objective with Biz.

Tailgating with Tony’s Pizza + Sausage & Cheese Pinwheels

Disclosure: This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WinWithTonysPizza #CollectiveBias

Football season is in full swing, and that includes high school football!  Even though it’s been “a few” years since I was in high school, I still enjoy rooting for the home team, and my husband played football in high school so he is always happy to watch anyone play.  Our son has also been in marching band, so we’ve enjoyed going to the football games to see him play, and while we’re there it’s a great chance to check out the game and enjoy ourselves.

One thing that’s changed since I was in school is the pre-game festivities.  Much like they do at colleges, people now tailgate, spirit parades, and other fun activities.

If you read this blog regularly, you know that I love homegating and serving food for football games.  For a high school game, I think it’s just as fun to serve up a few appetizers for family and friends to enjoy before attending the big game.

The other day we had a nice spread of food. I made a few appetizers, and our main dish was Tony’s pizza.  I purchased Tony’s® Pizzeria Style MEAT-TRIO® Pizza and Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Cheese Pizza.  Their pizzas feature 100% real mozzarella cheese and sauce made from real tomatoes, and their pizzas bake up in about 20 minutes, making them ideal for you tailgate or homegate parties!

You can find Tony’s pizza in the freezer section at Walmart.  Look for all their delicious varieties:

  • Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Pepperoni Pizza
  • Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza
  • Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Cheese Pizza
  • Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Supreme Pizza
  • Tony’s® Pizzeria Style MEAT-TRIO® Pizza

I like baking these pizzas as a main dish, and it’s also fun to slice the pizza into many smaller pizzas in order to serve “finger food” size portions.  Tony’s pizza is also very affordable, and because it’s so quick to make you can always stick extra pizzas in the oven if you have last minute or unexpected guests arrive.

Ibotta Offer!  You can also get $1 cash back off your pizza purchase with Ibotta.

Sweepstakes!  Right now you can also enter to win great prizes and up to $3000 for your local high school from Tony’s pizza.  Check it out!

#WinWithTonysPizza #Sweepstakes – Walmart (9/19 to 10/17)

I also made a few appetizers to go with our pizza.  It was basically an entire table full of man food!

One of the appetizers I made to go with the pizza was a platter of Sausage & Cheese Pinwheels.  This is a very easy appetizer that you can make in under 20 minutes.  The bite-sized portions make it very easy to serve and eat at a tailgate.  And the hearty ingredients are real crowd pleasers.

Do you shop online?  Surveys and studies show that more and more people are turning to the world wide web to purchase gifts and a whole host of personal items.  My husband and I are definitely two of these people.  Don’t get me wrong; I enjoy walking down the aisles of Walmart and check out the latest things they have to offer, from seasonal decor and clothing to beauty supplies.  But I also love the convenience of online shopping, and I love the time and money that it saves me!  Today we are going to talk about how buying your Pennzoil oil online for a DIY oil can help you save money, plus I will share 5 things you should be buying online if you want to save money. Orange Shortcake Parfait

Do you have kids who always seem to be hungry for an after school snack?  Or do YOU always find yourself rummaging through the kitchen for something to snack on?  If you’ve answered, “Yes!” to either of these questions, then today’s post is for you!  When it comes to afternoon snacking, you don’t have to settle for the same boring and bland foods.  You’ll actually find it’s amazing what you can do with just a few simple ingredients on hand.  You just have to get a little creative!  Today I’m sharing a recipe for a quick Orange Shortcake Parfait.  You can make these for your hungry little ones in about 5 minutes, or make an entire round of parfaits for your next party!

The other day, I made a couple of pound cakes!  I LOVE pound cakes!  They are so simple, yet so good!  And while I love the plain pound cake, it’s also a versatile dessert that you can change up with a little frosting, glaze, or fruit.  If you’ve got leftover pound cake on the counter and a little fruit on hand, you can easily make a shortcake parfait in a about five minutes.  In our post today, I’ve used a simple fruit cup of mandarin oranges and a little whipped topping to make an Orange Shortcake Parfait.

Substitutions

Of course, you could very easy substitute in another fruit cup like pineapple, or use fresh fruit like strawberries or bananas to make any kind of shortcake you like.  No whipped topping on hand?  No worries!  Just substitute in another ingredient, such as vanilla pudding.  And if you don’t have happen to have any cake on hand, look for other items in your kitchen that could be the base of your buffet:  crumbled up cookies, snack cakes (ie – Twinkies), other leftover cakes and breads, cinnamon rolls, and even leftover biscuits.

Not Just a Snack

And if you’d like to go beyond a quick 5 minute snack for you or your kids,  consider using a whole pound cake to make parfaits for an entire room full of people!  Party guests will love this dessert, and you’ll love how quick and easy it is to make.  Not to mention, it is a very cost effective dessert that looks great on your party buffet!
